The Lord Jesus hated wickedness and lived without sin, without compromising with injustice. He not only preached the truth but lived it in every detail, without hiding, without deceit. He was light in the midst of darkness, pure in a dirty world, righteous in a corrupt society. His command regarding non-resistance and the payment of taxes stirred hatred against Him, as He exposed sin and demanded a righteousness that goes beyond appearances, reaching the heart and actions of man.

Today, things are not different. Authentic righteousness, which condemns theft, lies, and injustice, continues to provoke rejection and even hatred. Many reject the real Jesus and embrace another, imaginary Jesus, who allows them to steal taxes, lie, and live in injustice without remorse. This Jesus is not the Savior of the Scriptures but a comfortable illusion that does not save. Thus, many declare themselves born of God but live in contradiction to this claim. Some steal or accept tax theft, support injustice and compromises, yet consider themselves part of His people. An unrighteous life does not prove being born of God, and disregarding Christ’s commandments shows a heart not transformed by divine righteousness. Scripture teaches us that it is not religious acts, but living in righteousness that confirms belonging to God.

“By this the children of God and the children of the devil are manifest: Whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother.” (1 John 3:10) True birth from God is preceded by a sincere hunger and thirst for righteousness, a deep desire reflected in actions, in honor, in truth, in renouncing sin, and in obedience to His commandments. Any form of faith that does not produce a life lived in God’s righteousness is a great deception. This is a painful reality. Many say they love the Lord, but when it comes to obedience, they choose darkness, comfort, religion, and appearance, but do not choose the word.

The Lord Jesus is despised because of His word, which does not accept compromises. He tells us that we cannot love Him and at the same time despise His commandments. “He who does not love Me does not keep My words. And the word which you hear is not Mine but the Father’s who sent Me.” (John 14:24) This is not just a matter of morality but a clear spiritual proof of the state of the heart. Disregarding His commandments, including those related to honor, justice, tax payment, self-denial, and submission to authority, is not just a behavioral issue but proof that the heart does not love the Lord.

Many despise the true Jesus, not out of ignorance, but out of conscious opposition. They hate Him because He commands them to live in purity, to renounce ill-gotten gains, to submit, and not to justify themselves. Even if they say they love Him, the reality is that they hate Him, just as Scripture says: “For everyone who does evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed.” (John 3:20) They despise Him because His presence threatens their gain and reveals the greed of Judas hidden in their hearts. The righteousness demanded by Christ is valued with death. This hatred of man towards light has been used by Satan as the final weapon to hand the Lord Jesus over to death. People love darkness more than light, and the judgment lies in the fact that when Light came into the world, people loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
